Buganda Kingdom and NREP Unite to Champion Clean Cooking in Ssembabule

The National Renewable Energy Platform (NREP) proudly joined the Buganda Kingdom, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), and key development partners in commemorating Buganda Kingdom Environment Day in Ssembabule District, a milestone event focused on environmental stewardship, cultural leadership, and clean energy advocacy.

Held at the district grounds, the celebration brought together students, community leaders, policymakers, civil society, and private sector actors.

Extending the Conversation – Live Radio Dialogue on Mbabule FM

Ahead of the celebrations, NREP and partners hosted a live radio talk show on 101.1 Mbabule FM, reaching thousands of listeners across Ssembabule and beyond. The session featured expert insights from NREP, UNACC, Buganda Kingdom, Biogas Solutions Uganda, and Hon. Shartsi K. Musherure. Listeners called in from rural areas like Ssembabule and Masindi, requesting access to clean cooking technologies.

A highlight of the event was a hands-on showcase of modern clean cooking solutions, with stakeholders exhibiting Electric Pressure Cookers (EPCs), biogas systems, and LPG technologies. Dr. Nicholas Mukisa explained the campaign’s progress and engaged students in a live cooking demo.
