The Off-Grid Working Group (OGEWG), operating under the National Renewable Energy Platform (NREP), serves as a central hub for exchanging and disseminating experiences, knowledge, and information from off-grid energy project implementations. The OGEWG coordinates initiatives to elevate the profile of Uganda’s off-grid energy sub-sector and expand energy access in rural and hard to reach areas, aligning with government objectives. Through collaboration among government ministries, development partners, industry representatives, and civil society, the OGEWG addresses sector challenges via its five subcommittees.
This year marks the second national workshop for policy dialogue on off-grid energy issues and market challenges. Topics include e-waste management, implementation of Results-Based Financing (RBF) mechanisms, and fostering partnerships to advance sustainable energy solutions.
The workshop will future the launch of the offgrid energy working group website and portal, as well as validation and review of the minigrid site selection tool.
