The Productive Use of Energy (PURE) focuses on harnessing renewable energy to enhance economic activities and improve livelihoods in Uganda. By integrating renewable energy solutions into key sectors such as agriculture, agro-processing, irrigation, and small businesses, PURE fosters sustainable development, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and contributes to poverty reduction.
NREP plays a central role in advancing PURE initiatives by coordinating stakeholders, fostering partnerships, and creating an enabling environment for innovative energy solutions. Its efforts align with Uganda’s energy and climate policies to address challenges in access, awareness, and infrastructure.

GOGLA, the global association for the off-grid solar energy industry and Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) teamed up to improve the enabling environment for productive use of renewable energy technologies in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Ethiopia. Objective:
The objective is to identify effective and efficient mechanisms for development of the renewable energy sector through technical skills expertise transfer and discourse in Uganda in general, and among the communities of practice in particular.
