The NES Study report outlines a multi-faceted approach to achieving universal electricity access in Uganda by 2030. It emphasizes the importance of leveraging both grid extensions and off-grid solutions such as mini-grids and stand-alone solar systems. The report details the current electrification status in Uganda, including a thorough analysis of the institutional and regulatory frameworks. It proposes strategic recommendations to improve the efficiency of these frameworks, suggesting that significant progress in electrification can be achieved through strong political commitment, targeted investments, and the integration of productive uses of electricity to promote socio-economic development. The strategy also highlights the necessity of fostering private sector involvement and building capacity among local stakeholders to support the sustainable implementation of the NES(NES STUDY REPORT).
