INTERACTIVE MEETING BETWEEN THE NREP BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND SECRETARIAT.

On March 27, 2025, the National Renewable Energy Platform (NREP) management held an interactive meeting with the board of trustees. The discourse focused on strategizing NREP’s future, updating the trustees on the progress of ongoing projects and financial standing, and addressing emerging issues, including how individual board members could contribute to resource mobilization and institutional growth. The meeting explored strategies for the platform’s growth and long-term sustainability, key to these was establishment of local and international partnerships.

Key Discussion Highlights

Emphasis was placed on ensuring the preparation of all relevant documentation and alignment of project documents with its strategic plans. The discussion also covered the evolution of NREP’s thematic area groups into task forces, which were considered a more feasible alternative. Assurances were given that the new thematic area task force approach was considerate of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) role in the renewable energy sector. Efforts were also highlighted to expand NREP’s reach, building on the participation of over 18 CSOs at REC24 & EXPO, to strengthen collaboration between CSOs and the government, ensure their inclusion in planning processes, and integrate them into the task forces.

Efforts towards a consolidated renewable energy database in collaboration with partners were highlighted, sharing that this would be carried out in a phased manner. It was emphasized that despite NREP’s creation being led by government, the platform is not a government agency, but that meant to be a special purpose vehicle for the renewable energy sector by aggregating all stakeholders. Discussions shifted focus to data protection and confidentiality between NREP and partners highlighting NREP’s non-disclosure of sensitive information to the government, MDAs or any other agencies to aid data collection and consolidation efforts.
