Bioenergy and Clean Cooking

Purpose

The purpose of the Subcommittee on Bioenergy and Clean Cooking within the Off-Grid Energy Working Group (OGEWG) is to lead discussions and initiatives focused on advancing the adoption of clean cooking technologies and the sustainable utilization of bioenergy in off-grid settings. Its primary objective is to address the multifaceted challenges and barriers hindering the widespread deployment and uptake of clean cooking solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Technology Standards:
    • Develop and promote standards for clean cooking technologies and sustainable bioenergy production.
  2. Awareness Campaigns:
    • Design and implement public awareness campaigns on the benefits of clean cooking solutions.
  3. Supply Chain Development:
    • Support the development of robust supply chains for clean cooking technologies and sustainable biomass.
  4. Health Impact Assessment:
    • Monitor and evaluate the health impacts of transitioning from traditional to clean cooking methods.
  5. Environmental Sustainability:
    • Promote sustainable forestry and biomass production practices to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.
